The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties is offering Affordable Care sign up assistance at the Monmouth Mall this weekend. Six trained Health Care Marketplace Navigators will be at the Mall this Saturday.

Outreach Specialist Debbie Palacio said in a nut shell, "they're trained to help people navigate through the system and explain all the plans to them, what everything means because a lot of people are going onto the system and not understanding or getting stuck and getting very frustrated. So we're there to help calm them down and breeze through the application and process a lot easier," Palacio explained.

Applicants are advised to bring:

  • Social Security Numbers or document numbers for legal immigrants for the household
  • Employer and income information for every member of your household who needs coverage (pay stubs or W-2 forms Wage and Tax Statements)
  • Information about any job-based health insurance you or anyone in your household receives.

The Navigators will be in the SCAN Adult Education Center between JC Penny and the movie theater, downstairs from the food court, next to Mall Management, from 10 to 5.

However, the FoodBank web site provides a list of locations and telephone numbers where Health Care Navigators can be found through out both counties.

Their press release states "In order to have health insurance by February 1st, 2014, you must have a completed enrollment by January 15th at www.healthcare.gov. For more information call the FoodBank at (732) 918 - 2600.
