As I do every morning when I get up, I went to check my email and news websites this morning. After waiting a few minutes for the pages to load to no avail, I figured that I was just having a problem with my connection. But, it turns out that I'm not the only Jersey Shore resident having issues today. If you're a Comcast customer, you very well may be having issues today, too. Here's what's up:

As my colleague Laurie Cataldo, on our sister station WJLK, first reported, Comcast officials in New Jersey have said that a software issue on their end is causing widespread outages throughout the Jersey Shore area.

The service first went down a little after 9:00 this morning, and Comcast engineers have been working to restore service. They had hoped to get service back by Noon, but the problem seems to be a bit more complicated, and they're now hoping to restore service by mid-afternoon.
