Next week, ‘Glee‘ will take the bull by the horns with covers of ‘Red Solo Cup’ and a delectable mash-up of ‘Survivor/I Will Survive,’ but before we dive into the goodness that is next week’s songs, let us address just one little thing: Sam (Chord Overstreet) will return in the ‘Hold on to Sixteen’ episode! If that’s not a Christmas present sent from above (you know, the FOX execs), we don’t know what is.

Being that this is Trouty Mouth’s Season 3 debut, you know he’s coming back with a bang. Upon his return, Sam Evans will “get a little country back in this joint” with a twangin’ party song, Toby Keith‘s ‘Red Solo Cup,’ while the rest of the glee club dances around him in the choir room, paying tribute to a little red plastic cup. With Sam back, it’s almost as if there was never a continental divide between the Troubletones and the New Directions. Following his premiere number, Santana shared just how much she missed the big-mouthed blond Bieber with some not so nice words.

Later, at Sectionals, the Troubletones girls took the stage to perform what we believe may just be the best ‘Glee’ mash-up yet. Santana put her big mouth to good use, and alongside Mercedes, knocked the crowd dead with a blend of Gloria Gaynor’s singalong smash ‘I Will Survive’ and Destiny’s Child’s ‘Survivor.’ Even without Beyonce, we’re floored.

Given that the girls dressed to the nines in matching silver dressed, belted their biggest notes with perfect pitch and danced until they dropped dead, we can’t imagine that they’d come in behind first place … But we haven’t seen what New Directions can do yet.

The ‘Hold on to Sixteen’ episode of ‘Glee’ airs Tuesday (Dec. 6) on FOX.
