BUENA VISTA — A Buena High School teacher is awaiting extradition back to New Jersey where he faces charges for having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student.

According to the New Jersey State Police, William J. Jacobs, 32, of Folsom had a relationship with the girl from November of 2016 until January of 2017. During the investigation police said "several hundred" electronic messages were uncovered between the two.

Jacobs was arrested on Tuesday morning by the U.S. Marshals in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and was being held at the Broward County Correctional Facility.
