According to police, Carol Olson of the township stopped her 2013 Hyundai Elantra on Northampton Boulevard at the intersection of Commonwealth Boulevard around 2:24 PM, in preparation for a right turn.

When she proceeded into the intersection, it was into the path of the truck barrelling along Commonwealth on an emergency call, with lights ablaze and four firefighters aboard, police said.

The engine driver, Dale Herbert, 45, braked and swerved, but the truck rammed the driver's side of the car, police said.

Ms.Olson complained of hand pain but refused medical care, and none of the firefighters needed hospitalization, police said.

Patrolman Antonio Ellis of the Traffic Safety division is conducting the followup investigation.
