Flames engulfed an apartment complex at Lisa Robin Circle in Lakewood Tuesday afternoon, displacing several families and injuring two cats, according to The Lakewood Scoop.

A building maintenance worker reportedly using heat to defrost frozen pipes suffered minor injuries.

The Red Cross was called to help find temporary shelter for the displaced residents.

The injured cats were transported by Lakewood First Aid and EMS to a local veterinary hospital.

The Ocean County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
