Fire displaces Brick Township family

A Brick Township family is displaced after flames engulfed their Deer Path home Sunday night, causing part of the roof to collapse, according to police.

Seven people who were inside escaped unharmed after the blaze broke out near the chimney and spread to the upper level, according to the Asbury Park Press.

The Asbury Park Press reports authorities said solar panels on the roof made it difficult for firefighters to douse the flames, until it collapsed.

There's no word yet on the exact cause of the fire.
