It's been almost 3 years since Toms River's famous Rivoli's restaurant on Fischer Boulevard closed.

It was in November of 2016 that the landmark restaurant that showed up everywhere from MTV to The Food Network closed its doors, and now owner Tony Rivoli has announced that the Rivoli's name will be returning to Toms River.

In a Facebook video late last week, Rivoli specifies that the new restaurant, "is not going to be an Italian restaurant", and that the new place will be, "a neighborhood bar" that will feature burgers, wings, and some of the famous Rivoli's dinners.

The new restaurant, "Riv's Toms River Hub" will be just a few miles north of the former Fischer Boulevard restaurant, setting up shop in the space that was most recently the Toms River Ale House on Hooper Avenue in the Silverton section of town.

Interestingly, if you look back at the end of 2016, we wrote an article about 5 businesses that closed that year. Two entries on the list were Pub 1850 (which later became the Toms River Ale House) and Rivoli's.

Who knew then that nearly three years later, the two would come together in a sort of rebirth of both?

As of right now, the Rivoli's Facebook page just marks Riv's Toms River Hub as "opening soon", but we'll keep you updated as the opening date gets closer.
