The annuity value of Saturday night's Powerball jackpot is worth $334 million and could start someone's New Year off on a rich note.

The mulit-state game, played in 42 states, has not had a jackpot winner since Nov. 4, when an annuity jackpot worth $144 million was won in Tennessee. The jackpot is the 12th largest in the game's history and would be won by matching five numbers plus the Powerball number.

Powerball made several changes to the game in October officials say  will increase the amount of the jackpot by increasing the number of numbers to choose to 69 while decreasing the number of Powerball numbers to 26.

Two winning third-place tickets worth $50,000 each were sold in East Brunswick and Asbury for the last drawing on Wednesday.

New Jersey had a Powerball winner in March, when two couples from Dumont that named themselves the "Rocklin Four" shared a $40 million jackpot. Prior to that, 2013 was a lucky year for New Jersey Powerball players with two winning tickets in August for a $448 million jackpot sold to "Ocean's 16," a group of municipal workers from Ocean County, and Mario Scarnici from Monmouth Junction.

Pedro Quezada from Passaic won a $338 million jackpot in March 2013 and later ran into legal difficulties — a person described in media accounts as his wife left him and sued him for a share of the winnings. They later reconciled.

The Powerball numbers, with odds of winning the jackpot at 1-in-175.2 million, are drawn at 11 p.m.

The cash value of the jackpot, which will be drawn at 11 p.m. on Wednesday night, is $205 million. The value of the jackpot will likely grow based upon the final number of tickets sold.
