Live From New York It's Saturday Night

I was 10 years old when Saturday night changed forever. A reason to stay up late and laugh at jokes and skits, which a lot of the time I didn't understand. Last night I watched the first ever episode with George Carlin as Host and I'm sure half his material went right over my head back in 1975. I remember people seeing Steve Martin for the first time with his banjo and neighbors Parents running out to buy his "wild and crazy" comedy albums. Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Jane Curtain, Garrett Morris, Gilda Radner, and Laraine Newman....The original Not Ready For Prime Time Players, Bill Murray came along right after Chevy left. I remember watching SNL as a kid, with my kids and right up til now 40 years later! Not only for the comedy, but also for the music! From the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, the Grateful Dead, Jimmy Buffet, Simon & Garfunkel, Robert Plant, Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, George Harrison, Queen ..... To Bette Midler, Prince, Billy Joel, Hall & Oates, Duran Duran, Aerosmith, U2 and Cheap Trick .....Musics best have played on Saturday Night Live!

Saturday Night Live has gone on to become the longest-running, highest-rated show on late-night television. The 90-minute program, which from its inception has been broadcast live from Studio 8H in the GE Building at Rockefeller Center, includes a different guest host and musical act each week

Tonight is the 40th Anniversary Show and so many who have been part of SNL are expected to be there....whats your favorite SNL memories ?

Here's an interview from 1975 with the original cast of "unknowns" trying to explain, along with Lorne Michaels, what SNL is ....
