Members of Ocean County Right To Life held a prayer vigil outside of the Toms River Municipal Building as opposition to the Affordable Care Act, which could require applicants to purchase plans that offer abortion services.

Toms River resident and protester Mario Minervini says looking beyond politics, the mandate contradicts his religious beliefs.

“For me to pay for it, when I don’t believe in it, our freedoms are being infringed upon.”

He says letting the Affordable Care Act slide could break open the flood gates for a slippery slope of other issues.

“My biggest fear is that this slippery slope may lead to persecution of Christians here in America.”
