BRIDGEWATER  — It was a horrible Saturday morning on Route 287 as two people died in separate incidents.

A car fire killed an occupant of a car that was headed north on Route 287 near Route 22 in Bridgewater around 9:55 a.m., according to State Police spokesman Alejandro Goez. The other occupant was flown to Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center.

No other vehicles were involved in that incident.

In another crash, two cars overturned on the southbound side near Exit 52 for Route 23 in Pequannock at 8:15 a.m., according to Goez. One person who was in a vehicle carrying two people died at the scene while the other occupant and the driver of the second vehicle were flown to Morristown Medical Center.

Goez said the causes of both incidents was still to be determined by the State Police fatal accident unit. He did not disclose the identities of anyone involved.

Both incidents caused multi-mile delays.
