My Mom's favorite dish is the sweet potatoes referred to as yams.  She can't have Thanksgiving dinner without them.

But did you know:

According to The Ross Britain Report yams come from Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Yams can grow as big as seven feet long and 150 pounds.

The word "yam" comes from the African word "nyami", which means "to eat."

The average American consumes 4.7 pounds of sweet potatoes a year.

Are yams a "big" part of your Thanksgiving Day?
