The Jersey Shore's tourism magnets not only promise fun for visitors, they also open scads of summer employment. The final round of Summer job fairs begins Sunday, February 28, at Jenkinson's in Point Pleasant Beach.

The family-friendly, and family-operated, beachfront venue has spots for game and ride operators, cashiers, arcade workers, over-the-counter and tableside food servers, beach badge monitors and beach maintenance staffers, pizza bakers, and more.

Students as young as 14 and 15 have access to a limited number of jobs as well, said Christine Karaska of the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

"Because there are only a handful of them, my suggestion for young students is to arrive as early as you can,so you have first crack a the jobs," she said.

It's also a good idea, for everyone, to register at the Jenkinson's web site, download the application, complete and print multiple copies, and bring along at least a matching number of resumes.

"Whether you're aiming to work in rides, games or behind a counter, you're going to need an application for every manager you'll meet," Christine said.

And you will meet them, for sure. "Have some reasons why they should hire you," she advised.

"Managers will interview right on the spot. A lot of times you fill an online application, and you never hear from anyone. This is the place where you shake someone's hand."

Also Sunday, Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson conducts its last Spring job fair before gates open for the season on March 23. In Seaside Heights, the Casino Pier's Summer job fair takes place March 5 and 6.
