Have You ever thought ..... hmmmm my dog would be a really good "therapy" dog? Ever been told your pet has the perfect personality to possibly help others? Then this may be the chance you've been looking for. I saw the details in a recent Patch article.

Ocean County College's Department of Continuing & Professional Education, in partnership with Caregiver Canines and Compassionate Canine Training, is offering a course in Pet Therapy Preparation and Certification. Caregiver Canines is a division of Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey, which I have been on their Board of Directors for several years now. The Organization is fantastic and assists so many elderly throughout Ocean and Monmouth Counties.

This certification will allow you and your pooch to volunteer with Caregiver Canines and take part in home visits in the local senior community.... in addition independently visit any assisted living facility, hospital, school, or business that permits pet therapy visitations.

According to the Patch article ..... The  Pet Therapy classes meet from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

The first course will run from February 3rd to March 3 ..... with the certification evaluation on Saturday, March 10.

The second section is April 7 to April 28 with the certification evaluation on Saturday, May 5.
