Calling all Cannonball Loop survivors — the near-mythical stories of New Jersey's Action Park are being turned into a movie, thanks to Johnny Knoxville.

News broke this week that the actor & 'Jackass' stuntman will start production on a theme park comedy. It's got a working title instantly recognized among 30-somethings and older here in NJ — "Action Park."

Knoxville first mentioned the project and its Jersey roots a full two years ago. At Sundance for a documentary about his idol, Evel Knievel, he told Deadline, "The goal is a big, fun ‘80s-type comedy. It’s about this park in New Jersey, it actually existed." He also said the Sussex County water park's notorious history was in the same spirit as their reality series and movies.

As for Action Park itself, Mountain Creek did re-launch the classic name for two years, wrapping in summer 2015:

This past year, it reverted back to Mountain Creek Waterpark, in a move largely aimed at attracting more families.

Since the sole inspiration for the movie was in New Jersey, it seems that Knoxville and his crew should pay tribute in some way. They're shooting in South Africa — but how about some secondary footage in the Mountain Creek parking lot?
