Would-Be Purse Snatcher Sought in Brick

A man who tried and failed to grab a woman's purse in Brick Township Wednesday night is the object of a search by local police.

Brick Township authorites have no identity, but got a description after responding to the Target on Route 70 at 11:26 PM.

Investigators say the suspect approached his victim from behind, pulled her down and tried to yank her purse from her grasp.

A companion of the woman stepped in and subject ran toward the wooded area between the Target and the adjoining PC Richards appliance store, say police.

A search of the forested area by officers proved to be fruitless.

He's described as about 5'10" tall and of medium build. Police say he was wearing a dark ski mask, black tee-shirt, black jeans and white sneakers bearing Nike logos.
