Branding heroin packets "Ebola" might have seemed hilarious to the peddlers, but it didn't get any laughs from police who cuffed a suspected dealer Monday in a Toms River hotel.

Barnabas Davis, 47, is being held on $300,000 bail in the Ocean County Jail on charges of possession and intent to distribute heroin and crack cocaine.

Acting on information from the Lakewood Police Strreet Crimes Unit, Toms River investigators got a warrant in support of a probe of suspected heroin dealing in the back rooms of the Ramada Inn on Route 9 near the Lakewood border.

Davis, aka "Hammer," whose most recent address is in the township's Briar Knolls Condo Complex according to authorities, was found with about 633 wax folds and about 40 grams of crack, police said. The packages carried numerous brandings, including "Ebola," police said.

Hotel operators were not aware or involved in the drug dealing and cooperated with investigators, police said.
