Harry VanWagenen, a recent graduate of Point Pleasant Borough High School picked up his $1000 scholarship as part of the WOBM/Gateway Toyota Student of the Week programVanWagenen, who leaves later this month for Syracuse University where he will major in Bioengineering, was randomly selected from the 38 honored students during the 2014-15 school year as the scholarship winner.  He received $500 from 92.7 WOBM and $500 from Gateway Toyota of Toms River, who has sponsored the program since its inception 19 years ago.  The program salutes outstanding seniors from all 18 Ocean County high schools as well as the MATES and Performing Arts Academy of the Vocational-Technical School District and will be back for a 20th year in September.

VanWagenen graduated 2nd in his class at Point Boro where he was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Key Club, Chemistry Club, Math League, Science League and Spanish Club where he served as president.  He was also captain of the track team and played varsity soccer.

Harry received his check from Gateway Toyota General Manager Rick Cardwell and WOBM’s Kevin Williams, who coordinates the Student of the Week program.
