The suspect in a Sunday-night robbery in Jackson remains at large while his victim recovers from a brutal beating, and police are asking anyone who can help the probe to step forward.

Officers responding to Romeo's Plaza about 11:30 PM encountered the worker who told them that he was closing business for the night.

According to his statement to investigators, a man entered the restaurant, punched him repeatedly, and grabbed a deposit bag filled with cash and receipts from a countertop before running out.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 5'9" in height and 170 pounds, wearing a  hooded black Nike sweatshirt and dark colored jeans.  Police say he had the hood of the sweatshirt pulled over his head during the robbery.

Anyone with information leading to the suspect's arrest and conviction is urged to call Jackson Police Detective Robert Reiff at 732-928-1111.
