Baby its cold outside but compared to Buffalo we’ve got nothing to complain about.

Weather forecasters expect as much as six feet of snow in areas of western New York State by Thursday and already four deaths have been blamed on the “lake effect” storm which comes more than a month before the official start of winter.

More than 150 vehicles were stranded on roadways with some people waiting as long as 20 hours before they were rescued.  There are indications that some isolated areas could receive nearly 100 inches of snow before the system moves away later in the week.  That’s more than 8 feet!  All of a sudden I don’t feel that bad.

By the way the Sabres were able to play their hockey game against San Jose in Buffalo and somehow a couple of thousand diehard fans showed up.  However the National Anthem singers did not make it and neither did one of the Sabre players who was stuck in his home.

What is the leading factor in causing fatal accidents on New Jersey roadways?  If you said drivers who are not paying attention you would be correct.  According to the State Police distracted drivers are the top cause of fatal crashes and that’s why Plymouth Rock launched a safety campaign earlier this year asking people to take a pledge to stay focused while driving.

More than 32,000 drivers have promised that they won’t use their cell phones or engage in any other activities that take their focus off the road.  To take the pledge visit plymouthrocknj.com.

He’ll have to wait 142 days but clearly Shawn Williams is looking forward to April 9th when the Lakewood BlueClaws open their 2015 season at FirstEnergy Park.  The 31-year old was named by the Phillies organization Tuesday as the manager of the BlueClaws for the 2015 season after spending this past summer as the manager of the short-season Williamsport Crosscutters.

Williams spent 8 seasons as a pro player, four of them in the Tampa Bay minor league system before deciding to follow in the footsteps of his father.  Jimy Williams managed the Blue Jays, Red Sox and Astros and also spent time with the Phillies as their bench coach.

The younger Williams will joined on the staff by pitching coach Aaron Fulz and hitting coach Nelson Prada. BlueClaws ticket packages and group outings are now on sale for the 2015 season; for more visit BlueClaws.com
