As you've been doing your grocery shopping this week, you may have noticed something different in the soft drink aisle. Diet Pepsi has changed their formula, and they want everyone to know about it.

Usually, when a legacy brand changes their ingredients, they do it quietly so as not to attract negative attention to purists and long time fans. But Pepsi put the notice right on the package of their diet products that are hitting store shelves this week:

"Now Aspartame Free"

Aspartame is the artificial sweetener that has been used in hundreds of products since the early 1980s as a calorie free alternative to sugar (or, more so these days, high fructose corn syrup).

But it's always been surrounded with controversy, with some reports claiming dozens of side effects of consumption; everything from high blood pressure to cancer has been singled out as possible reactions to long term use.

So Pepsi is making sure that everyone knows that their diet products will no longer contain the chemical.

So what do you think? Will the lack of aspartame change your diet soda drinking habits? Tell us what you think in the comments section!
