Janet Sabba, 72, was brought to Community Medical Center in Toms River for head and neck examinations after the collision with a box truck near Colonial Drive, according to police.

Responding officers found the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan with heavy front end damage in the middle of the highway, and nearby, a 2011 Isuzu NPR box truck, also heavily damaged in front, on the berm of the westbound lanes.

Police said that Sabba was headed east on the highway and negotiating a left turn, across the westbound lanes, headed for Colonial Drive, at about 1:05 PM. The truck banged the van's front passenger side, spinning it around.

Sabba was secured in the van, and airbags depolyed, police said. The trucker, Kenneth Parker Jr., 61, of Browns Mills, declined medical treatment at the site.

Traffic delays ensued for about an hour.
