An 82-year old Whiting woman is brought to the trauma center at Jersey Shore University Medical Center Sunday after her car overturned.

Police found Lois J. Spaw at 3:37 pm semi-conscious and alert while pinned between the passenger seats and the roof.

She was heading east on Lacey Road, when suddenly she left the travel lane, crossed the shoulder and hit a concrete curb at the entrance to the Whiting Volunteer First Aid Squadm that caused her to impact a utility pole guy wire 10-feet off the ground which then forced the 2017 Honda Accord to go airborne and fly 30-feet back and overturn in the eastbound lane.

Spaw was extricated from the vehicle by members of the Whiting Volunteer Fire Department and was transported by ambulance to JSUMC for treatment of her injuries.

Police say she was not wearing her seat-belt at the time of the crash and is currently listed in stable condition.

The cause for this crash is being investigated by Sergeant Antonio Ellis of the department's Traffic Safety Unit.

The roadway was closed in both directions briefly while the investigation was being conducted.

Members of the Whiting Volunteer Fire Department and Fire Police, EMTs from Quality Medical Transport and paramedics from MONOC assisted Manchester Police at the scene.
