I made a quick stop at a supermarket in Ocean Township to grab lunch yesterday. As I sat in my car I saw three different people empty their shopping carts then hop in the car and pull away with the shopping cart sitting right where they left them, in the middle of two parking spots.

On top of that, yesterday was a windy day and the carts were rolling around. I thought that was pretty unbelievable. I completely understand certain situations where walking the cart to that shopping cart collection area is not possible (kids in the car, medical conditions, etc), but the people I saw looked like they were just in too big of a hurry to extend the courtesy.

So I thought I would reach out to the smartest people I know, you,  the residents of Monmouth and Ocean counties to get the definitive answer on shopping cart etiquette.
