Grocery stores are convenient. Especially these days with state of the art transportation infrastructure, you can pretty much get any produce that you want regardless of the season. But there's still something special about locally grown food that you just don't get from mass market stores.

When I was on vacation last week, I was at a cookout where they had some absolutely outstanding corn on the cob. It really made me think about the fact that you don't get the same flavor from produce that you get from the grocery store, and certainly not from the stuff that comes in a can!

Another favorite of mine is honey. Yes, I'm a honey snob. I think that once you've had locally produced honey (especially raw honey), you'll never go back to the stuff that comes in the plastic bear!

And of course New Jersey is known for some amazing produce - from blueberries to cranberries, tomatoes to the aforementioned corn, if you want to enjoy some fresh from the ground food, it's not hard to find in the Garden State.

So what are your favorites? If you're going to spend a little more for farmer's market fresh stuff, what do you like to load up on? Comment below and let us know!
