Do you ever feel out of the loop?  I do, especially when exciting things are happening in the sports world.  Like last night when Team USA won the Women's World Cup Soccer Final.  Facebook and Twitter were a constant stream of excited, proud posts.  And mentions of a "hat trick."   What is a hat trick and what does it have to do with soccer?  I posed the question and got my answer:  It's when a single player scores three goals in one game.  And apparently it's a really big deal!  So congrats to the awesome women who make us proud!

Now back to the topic of people who are not into sports...

Are we in the minority?  I think so.   How do sports fans find time to watch games every weekend?  I don't know.   And those people who watch games live and then watch those they recorded on DVR...well, frankly, I just don't understand.

Maybe it's because as a kid I was always tall and clumsy and one of the last to be called on in gym class.  From an early age, I never really had positive associations with physical activity or sports.  Maybe I'm too sensitive because I cringe when I see hockey players check each other and football players get tackled.  None of this seems like fun to me.  Yet, the world is full of people who love athletics.  Not just fans but fanatics.

I'm happy to cheer on the players who train hard to represent our country, and I'll be glad to attend the next Superbowl party.  But chances are I'll be more interested in the commercials and halftime entertainment than the game.

Are you into sports or not?  If you're the spouse of a sports fanatic, what do you like to do when your partner is watching the games?
