Under the new ordinance, every motel and hotel in Toms River now must require government-issued photo identification from anyone renting a room, and they must photocopy that ID and keep it on file with the room registration record.

According to a report from Patch, the Toms River Township Council this week gave final approval to an ordinance that will place new requirements and restrictions on motels and hotels within Toms River Township. This is in response to complaints against the Red Carpet Inn following more than 750 police calls over a two-year span, according to township officials.

Will this help at this downtown hotel? What would YOU like to see be done with this property? Sound off and let us know how you feel!
