The Arc of New Jersey is conducting a survey through the end of the month to try to prove its theory that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families are more motivated during elections and more likely to vote, according to Associate Executive Director Celine Fortin.

"You hear polls all the time about the percentage of people who are eligible to vote, but then the day of the election, there's not a big turnout," said Fortin.

The Arc is hoping members of the general public participate in the poll which also seeks to find out the percentage of people who vote and how they vote, according to Fortin.

"Do they vote because they're passionate about a cause? Do they vote because of the personality of the candidate?"

A part-time employee of the Arc who is a student at Kean University through Ocean County College in Toms River helped put the survey together and will analyze the results for a statistics class, noted Fortin.

The survey  is completely anonymous and is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/QSQ9YPG.
