By now you’ve probably heard that Surflight Theatre will be open again this summer after being closed for some time.  “Footloose” will be the first musical of the new season and I’m looking forward to it!

I remember when I first moved to Ocean County, Mom and Dad were excited to show me the theatre on Long Beach Island.  And they just knew that I would love the Showplace with its singing waiters and waitresses.  (I did!)  I remember an especially good production of “Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” followed by some pretty amazing ice cream and then a nice walk along the beach.

It’s memories like that help make summer at the Shore great.  Food, entertainment, and gorgeous scenery all in the same night.

With Surflight’s long history in Beach Haven, I thought it would be nice to reminisce a bit.

Do you have memories of the old tent theatre that was put up in 1950?  What was the first show you saw at Surflight?  Any memorable songs or moments at the ice cream parlor?  Please share in the Comments section.
