I'm about to take some time off to help a friend who is having knee-replacement surgery.  I don't have any medical training but figure I can be her driver and take care of her while she's home recovering.  I'm prepared to do the cooking and cleaning.  And I'll provide whatever emotional support and encouragement she needs; especially when doing her post-op exercises which I heard can be challenging, though extremely important to the healing process.

I'd like to be the best "home health aide" I can be for the week that we're together.  Do you have any advice?

If you've been through a similar surgery, was there something that really helped with your recovery?  Any suggestions for how I can lift her spirits if she gets frustrated with her temporary limitations?

I found the link below to be helpful, but thought some of you might be able to share some tips as well.  Thanks!
