Move over Mary Lee the great white shark, a hump back whale is getting all the attention now at the Jersey Shore.

Social media is buzzing with video of what appears to be a baby Humpback whale feeding and frolicking in shallow waters along the Jersey Coast.

The whale was spotted recently in the ocean off Point Pleasant Beach, Island Beach State Park and Ocean City.

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center in Brigantine posted a message on its Facebook page noting it's common for whaled to feed off the Shore and reminding those trying to catch of glimpse of the whale, to gaze from a distance. The animals are protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act.

According to National Geographic, Humpbacks often travel from their summer feeding grounds near the poles to warmer equatorial waters for winter. They can grow longer than 60 feet and weight up to 40 pounds. Humpbacks are known for their complex songs, believed to be a way of communicating among pods and attracting mates.
