We may have gotten an extra hour’s sleep but the end of Daylight Savings Time is actually pretty depressing as sunset today is 4:47 p.m. and we will continue to lose daylight until December 21st.

For many it means they will leave in the morning for work in the dark and the same for their return home and while the day is still 24 hours long it feels like you’re being cheated of time.  It’s something we have to accept if not embrace and Daylight Savings Time returns on March 12, 2017.

A few Monday musings:

  • Altered school schedules this week with all public schools closed Thursday and Friday because of the NJEA Convention. Throw in Election Day tomorrow and some school districts are closed for the entire week.
  • Eagles fans are scratching their heads over some of Coach Doug Pederson’s decisions Sunday but Philly still almost beat the Giants in a meeting of two very average teams. The Giants won’t go anywhere because they can’t run the ball even a little bit.
  • That was one very fast investigation by FBI Director James Comey into Hillary Clinton’s newly discovered emails. It’s nice to know that Washington can actually move pretty fast when necessary.
  • Aren’t you going to miss all the political commercials after tomorrow?
  • The NJSIAA football playoffs are a joke as evidenced by the fact that 25 of the 43 football-playing schools in the Shore Conference qualified. The playoffs should be a reward for a good season not a formality for many.
  • With that said I believe the shore will have at least as many champions as last year when six teams won sectional titles.
  • It’s pretty much impossible to watch TV news these days unless you’re conditioned to the fact that nothing good is ever heard until you get to the weather.
  • Aren’t you going to miss all the political commercials after tomorrow?

(Oh I said that already…didn’t I?)
