Weekend Events Around The Shore
There are a host of charitable events and fundraisers coming up in the next few days and because people have reached out to me asking for support I am reaching out to you.
The Toms River High School South Class of 2015 is holding a Gift Auction at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center on Route 37 West tomorrow night. Tickets are $20 which includes a dinner buffet and can be purchased through class advisors Kristen Frank and Lauren Patelunas.
Alumni ice hockey players from Toms River East, Toms River North, Toms River South and Monsignor Donovan will take part in a weekend tournament to benefit Restore the Shore. A total of eight teams will play games at Winding River Skating Center from Friday night through Sunday and detailed information is available at the ice rink. The phone number is (732) 244-0720. Proceeds will go to first responders who suffered considerable losses to their own homes while helping others during Hurricane Sandy.
Door 21 Foundation will hold a 5K Fun Run and 1 mile Kids Run on Sunday at Toms River High School North as they continue to raise funds and support families impacted by Sandy. The event will feature music from “The Amused” and there will be food vendors, a kid’s area that includes Gamin’ Ride and much more. It all starts at 8:30am and today is the deadline to register in which you are guaranteed a T-shirt and goody bag. For information on the event and more visit the Door 21 Foundation Facebook page.
Another Sunday event is the annual Walk For A Difference at FirstEnergy Park, the home of the Lakewood BlueClaws. Sponsored by Parents of Autistic Children the day also includes music, inflatable rides, costume characters, free refreshments, a resource fair and of course the walk to support POAC and the great work they do with and for autistic families. Registration begins at 11am Sunday and the walk starts at noon. For information visit poacwalk.org
Certainly just a few of the many events taking place this week.
