Water Utility Seeks Rate Hike

New Jersey American Water is seeking a 20 percent rate increase this month.

Reports say the shore area water provider scheduled a public hearing with the Board Of Public Utilities on December 14 in Howell. If their rate hike request is approved, customers in Ocean and Monmouth county will pay almost 8 dollars more per month on average.

The increase would take effect in the first half of next year.
