Billboard reports the Boss, who turns 66 Wednesday, joined Jackson Browne on stage at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank for a 12-minute version of the Eagles' "Take It Easy" and also "Out of the Well."

Bruce Springsteen aficionado Tom Cunningham says that Springsteen and Browne have been friends since the early 1970s. "Bruce inducted Jackson into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

"We live in a pretty unique place, where our neighbors are some of the greatest artists in the world,"  Jon Vena of the Count Basie Theatre told the Asbury Park Press. "When one of these stars stops by to see a friend backstage and then decides to share that visit with the rest of the theater, it's a pretty special moment."

Earlier this summer Springsteen surprised Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys during his solo show at the PNC Bank Arts Center, U2 at Madison Square Garden and did a 15 song surprise concert at the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park.

Cunningham, host of the Bruce Brunch on 105.7 The Hawk, says Springsteen usually has no particular reason for his unannounced concerts. “He feels like playing,” says “T.C,” and really enjoys playing with his musical friends.
