Watch as Hermine gives Anthem of the Seas another turbulent voyage
BAYONNE — Thanks to Hermine, it wasn't exactly smooth sailing for passengers on Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas, which left Bayonne Saturday and tried to steer clear of the storm.
According to passengers, who posted on social media, the Bermuda-bound vessel experienced some choppy seas during its journey.

On Sunday, passenger Robert McHugh posted on Twitter saying, "If y'all wondering where Hermine is at, we here on Anthem of the Seas found her." In a video posted to his Twitter account, the New Jersey man said at one point Sunday, there were 40-50- foot swells in the ocean where Anthem was sailing. He said dishes were "going all over the place" while people were eating in the restaurant. he said it was exciting for him, but joked that "half the ship is in the room right now over the toilet."
Royal Caribbean issued a statement saying they planned to keep passengers informed as the weather conditions changed.
“We are sailing safely to Bermuda in winds of 34 knots at a distance of more than 140 miles from the storm center. Earlier today, our captain informed guests that we had experienced higher winds and gusts for a 2-3 hour period. We’ll continue to share weather information with our guests throughout their trip,” Royal Caribbean said, according to CBSlocal.com.
Conditions had improved by Monday morning, when the ship was scheduled to arrive in Bermuda, and McHugh posted a picture of blue skies as the ship continued on its journey.
Even before Hermine, Anthem of the Seas has faced several issues in the past year. On Feb. 6, the ship was damaged a day after it set sail after sailing through 30-foot waves and hurricane force winds that caused its 4,500 passengers to hunker down for hours.
In June, an 8-year-old boy nearly drowned in the ship's swimming pool, forcing the ship to head back to port in Bayonne, and last month, a 72-year-old woman facing a medical emergency caused the vessel to change course.
