Here's a heads up for parents out there. Talk to your children before they injure themselves taking part in a potentially dangerous new game that is gaining popularity among teenagers thanks to YouTube and social media.

The 'salt and ice challenge' involves kids pressing ice and salt against their skin for as long as they can stand the burning sensation. If exposed to the combination for long enough, a frostbite-like condition can develop and may result in scarring or serious injury.

The Huffington Post reports that a 12-year-old Pittsburgh boy recently sustained painful injuries to his back as a result of the game. Photos can be seen here, though they are graphic.
