A fishing crewman is recuperating from a leg injury in Atlantic City after being hoisted to hospitalization by the Coast Guard just after midnight Friday.

USCG officials identified the 27-year-old only as a crew member of the Stacy Lee, which was 62 miles off the Cape May shore when the Philadelphia office fielded a call for help at about 12:45 AM.

Just about two hours later, a chopper crew from USCG Air Station Atlantic City arrived overhead in an MH-65 Dolphin and transported the victim to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center.

Petty Officer Third Class Joe Foss, in a prepared comment, commended the fishermen's actions in the choppy sea.

"The boat was rocking forward and aft in the large seas, so we had to be careful not to hit the antennas as we performed the hoists. All of our training definitely made this a successful rescue," Foss said.
