The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and Lakewood Police are taken aback by the overwhelming negative response that they've been receiving about its "Bagels, Lox & Cops" initiative. According to the Asbury Park Press, they've gotten a lot of angry phone calls, messages and Facebook post accusing them of showing favoritism to the Orthodox Jewish Community.

Prosecutor's Office Spokesman Al Della Fave said this isn't the first time hosting this particular outreach program. He said the message is and continues to be that law enforcement provides service to all its communities regardless of ethnicity or religious identity and rumors that police will be going to Orthodox Jewish homes to turn off light bulbs is simply untrue.
