"The state Department of Education has cautioned that these numbers are reported by each district, so each jurisdiction is responsible for reporting its results fairly and accurately. But they are required by law to report them."

As we get set to start a new school year unfortunately drugs and alcohol related problems in our schools continues and the State has numbers to show which districts have the most reported cases of drug/alcohol incidents. The numbers are based on the State report for 2016-2017.

This is the latest data that we have, courtesy of Patch. We included the prior survey ranking to compare with these latest numbers. Freehold Regional was tops in the prior and present data. Keep in mind it's obvious larger districts have larger population and possibly the chance of more incidents.

Freehold Regional tops the list in Monmouth County, while Toms River Regional tops Ocean County.

Reported cases were up in the Freehold Regional, Toms River Regional, Barnegat, and Lakewood districts ... while Jackson and Middletown saw declines.

Here are the TOP 10 for the school year 2016-17.
