Update: Ocean County pilot killed in small plane crash
The pilot of a World War II-era plane that crashed in Burlington County Saturday night has been identified by New Jersey State Police as 75-year-old William Lindley of Beachwood.
A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter located the lane Sunday in a marsh in Bass River State Forest in Washington Township after Lindley's cell phone was tracked by State Police.
The plane departed Saturday from Salisbury, Maryland and was reported missing after failing to land at Ocean County Airport in Berkeley Township.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
