If you have a few hours to spare, the United Way of Ocean County needs your help Thursday, June 19, for its 5th Annual "Day of Action."

Spokesperson Laura Temple said they're looking for some 300 volunteers to help complete 20 projects throughout the county, including work on Sandy-damaged houses. "We are beautifying homes of some of our partner agencies, playgrounds, we're going to be doing some landscaping work," said Temple.

Anyone with any sort of skill can help. "If they don't have a skill such as painting, they can do some raking or path clearing. We have projects that can be tailored to anybody's volunteer skills and interests," Temple said.

She's hoping the "Day of Action" attracts families, students, individuals and even companies. "Working right here in their county they get a sense of accomplishment. They can help out their neighbors. They can help out some organizations that don't have their own financial resources to do some of these types of projects that we have in the pipeline to work on," said Temple.
