Uncollected Bet Spurred Lakewood Gunshot Murder, Investigators Say

The probe of a late August death at the end of a gun in Lakewood ends with the arrest of a township 20-year-old.

Umbachi Gabra Jackson has been charged with the murder of Kenneth Scott, 24, at High Point Condominiums, according to information from the office of Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato. He was arrested at the housing complex Wednesday.

Jackson also faces two weapons possession counts. He was placed in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.

Investigators believe that Jackson pumped a bullet into Scott's chest over what they termed an unpaid "Dice Game" bet.

Scott died at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he was rushed after Lakewood police found him with a gunshot wound in building 524 just before 10 PM on August 29.

The autopsy on August 30 listed the gunshot wound as the cause of death, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
