Yesterday became an anxious day for beachgoers and swimmers along the Atlantic coast when two kids were bitten by sharks while swimming in the ocean.

The incidents happened on Long Island, and both the 12-year-old girl and 13-year-old boy are expected to be ok, but officials closed beaches across Long Island as a precaution afterwords.

The two incidents happened only about 4 miles apart.

The beaches were reopened today, but sharks stayed in the news on Long Island after a fisherman caught an 8 footer near Islip this morning.

The incident comes only about two weeks after a fisherman hooked a great white shark off Great Egg Inlet.
