Two Ocean County men hospitalized after head-on collision on Route 571 Tuesday
41-year old David M. Rehl of Toms River and 37-year-old Michael P. Redding of Brick suffered serious injuries as a result of a head-on collision on Route 571 near Ridgeway Boulevard around 8 pm Tuesday.
An initial investigation on scene by Manchester Police found that 41-year-old David Rehl of Toms River was driving a white 2004 Chevrolet Impala westbound near Ridgeway Road when he allegedly crossed the double-yellow and center line and hit a blue 2001 Ford Escape driven by Redding traveling eastbound.
Both cars sustained major damage to the front ends of their respective cars and everyone injured in the crash was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
The drivers in each car were wearing seat-belts and the airbags became fully deployed upon impact.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
