Two 17-year olds from Monmouth County have been arrested and charged for their roles in an armed robbery Saturday around 9:30 pm at the Twinbrook Village Apartments on Aldrin Road in Ocean Township.

One of the teens approached a man walking his dog and began conversing with him in an effort to distract the victim.

Moments later the second teenager walked towards the conversation and threatened the man with a knife and with the other teen demanded alcohol from the victim.

A friend of the victim brought over alcohol and gave it to the teens and called the police on the suspects who then fled the scene before they were caught a short time later around the complex.

The two teens, one from Ocean Township and the other from Oakhurst, were arrested surrendered the alcohol and were transported to the Middlesex County Youth Detention Center.

They're being charged with Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose.

The victim was unharmed.
