A teen was injured and airlifted when his dirt bike struck a tree while a Manchester man was hospitalized when his motorcycle slid to avoid hitting an SUV.

Manchester Police say the 17-year-old from Columbus was riding in the woods behind Kincora Buck Hunting Club when he hit the tree and suffered a serious lower leg injury. He was flown via MONOC to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

The unidentified teen was was wearing a helmet, goggles, protective gloves, and a chest protector at the time of the crash according to Manchester Police.

24-year-old Joel Onate, of Toms River was injured when he made an emergency stop on Broadway Boulevard trying to avoid an SUV that nosed out of Oakdale Street in the Pine Lake Park to make a turn.

Police say Onate and the SUV never made contact but his Triumph motorcycle slid to a stop as he tried to avoid the car. He suffered "road rash" as well as cuts to his knees, and arms. He was treated at the scene.

Manchester Police are investigating both incidents.
