Two male subcontractors are hospitalized following a construction accident at the Riverwood Chase condo development off Route 9 in Toms River this afternoon. Toms River Police say first responders were called to the scene at 1:24 pm after two men on the third floor of a townhouse under construction fell to the main floor when a portion of the building gave way.

According to Toms River Police Department Public Information Officer Ralph Stocco, initial reports say that one of the men landed on nails that became lodged in his body.

One of the subcontractors was transported to the Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune and the other to Kimball Medical Center. Construction officials and investigators remain on the scene as the investigation continues.
