The 2-alarm fire on Overlook Drive broke out around midnight in the basement of the home, according to the Monmouth Police, Fire and EMS Facebook. The reports say the family got out of the home safely.

Sand and salt crews were called in to treat the icy road condition that resulted when water from firefighting efforts froze over.

The fire was a five-minute drive from a morning blaze on English Path that started around 9 a.m. and took firefighters 7 hours to completely knock out, according to the East Freehold Fire Company's Facebook page. That fire sent heavy, black plumes of smoke into the air.

No firefighters were injured in either fire according to the fire company.

The Asbury Park Press reports Natalie Pantel was the only occupant of the home at the time of the fire, which started in the kitchen. The report said she ran across the street to her neighbor's home as the fire spread quickly and the home collapsed onto itself.  NJ.com reports several nearby homes were temporarily evacuated at the height of the fire.

Crews from Freehold Borough, Freehold Township, East Freehold, Marlboro, Adelphia, Freehold First Aid Squad and Gordons Corner helped fight the English Way fire. The Monmouth County Fire Marshal also responded to both fires.
